HB750: $5B Tax
Increase without Referendum
The
pro-tax crowd is concerned you greedy taxpayers are voting no to too many
referendums. The teacher union / government worker union funded CTBA has found
a slick way to get around your greedy "No" votes -- HB750. If your
state legislators don't oppose HB750, vote them out before they can vote it
in!!
HB750 advertises a 25%
($2.5B) property tax reduction. Does this mean your overall tax burden will go
down?
The $2.5B is replaced by a
massive increase of almost 3x that much -- $7.2B -- which will ultimately come
from YOU, Mr. & Ms. Taxpayer!
Costs
of HB750 to voters, taxpayers, and consumers
-
67% increase in personal income tax (3% --> 5%)
-
Higher prices on goods due to much higher corporate income taxes
-
Higher prices on services, due to sales taxes added to hair care, auto repair,
cleaning services, parking, movies, golf, and a
-
Less jobs
due to higher costs of doing business
-
Businesses closing due to loss of business from higher prices
Ralph Martire,
author of HB750, has been quoted as saying "Illinoisans just don't pay
enough taxes." * Is this who you want designing
General apportionment of YOUR income before and after HB750

Government and schools have a SPENDING
problem, not a funding problem!
WARNING!! Support of HB750 is
hazardous to your business and your job -- especially if you are a member of
the Illinois General Assembly. For more information, contact Citizens for
Reasonable and Fair Taxes at www.noreferendum.org

HB750Questions v2.0 Aug 26. 2004
Questions and comments for
supporters of HB750
Have you
developed an estimate or minimum of how long the tax dollars from this bill
will last, how long till another increase is required? When does this end? How
much is enough to last until my grandkids are gone?
If $4.2
billion of this $4.7 billion permanent tax increase is going to schools, why
isn't there a multi-year moratorium on tax increase referendums?
What
holds those controlling this money accountable for how it is spent? Existing
checks and balances are not working.
Have you studied or estimated the number of businesses and
jobs that will be lost due to
significantly higher corporate taxes, loss of business incentives (you call
"corporate tax expenditures"), and business loss due to higher prices
on services?
How does
increasing the tax burden on the 23% most financially successful people in the
state encourage people to strive for success? Hard work and success is further
punished.
It's
better when our community can get together, discuss, and vote on what we want
to do locally, instead of having the state general assembly ram another robbery
down our throats.
